I fell into digital by pure chance, and it's been my happiest stumble yet.

I'd walk by a billboard of a local Dubai digital agency and think to myself, 'Man, I'd love to work there some day." I made some day happen as soon as I could and spent the next year and a half learning and living all things digital.

Diving into a pool of unfamiliar jargon, I made my agency experience about more than just digital strategy and online marketing. As a copywriter, a social media manager and an overall out-of-box thinker, I strived beyond the labels and learned how to manage, delegate, and train a team while making independent decisions and cultivating professional relationships. With key insights into UX and client servicing, and ample experience in content analysis and creation, I feel especially prepared to take on the next challenge.

I am currently enrolled in the Sales and Account Management Track at Startup Institute in Boston. Other than working as a Digital Strategist since 2012, my previous work experience includes managing a team of content writers for Namshi.com, the largest Rocket Internet incubated e-commerce company in the Middle East. I also enjoy freelancing as a writer and a creative strategy consultant in my spare time. There is a novel in the works that I go back to agonise over from time to time, and when I am frustrated, I like to de-stress at the gym. The common factor in all my endeavours is typified in what I now offer here - a drive to achieve over and above my capacity.

Why Startup Institute?

I was born in Saudi Arabia. I grew up in Toronto and went to college in Lahore. I kicked off my career in Dubai and now I am in Boston.

I am no stranger to change. In every phase of my life, I have taken a leap of faith, whether it's jumping from a science major to humanities, to leaving a comfortable job and flying halfway across the world. Startup Institute is yet another leap, one I am certain will have a safe landing.

I stumbled across SI via Mashable and applied on the spot. With my strong marketing and creative background, I was looking for something to propel my career. The Sales and Account Management Track fits the bill, it enhances my current capabilities and also takes me beyond my comfort zone. Startup Institute is an exciting program, and I am thrilled to be making it a part of my journey.
