Richard Banfield is Co-Founder & CEO of Fresh Tilled Soil, a team of UX/UI design experts that creates remarkable web and mobile app experiences to positively impact companies’ bottom lines. Since 2005, Fresh Tilled Soil has worked with over 500 clients, delivering dynamic business websites for entrepreneurs and Fortune 500 companies alike. They are passionate about technology, innovation, and business. Fresh Tilled Soil believes in building websites to deliver great user experiences and improve a company’s presence on the internet.
Richard wears the strategic hat around the office and never met a whiteboard he didn’t like. He’s worked his way up the web-marketing food chain, starting with online ad sales at MultiChoice, Africa’s largest TV and Internet media business. He was in the thick of it during the heady dot-com years, founding Acceleration, an international e-marketing business headquartered in London.
Richard has delivered high-level business strategy, global marketing campaigns, and materials to clients in the US, UK, Europe, and Africa. His colorful life experience includes being a dive-master on the remote Islamic Republic of the Comoros, where he learned the survival skills he uses daily in the office.
Richard has been instrumental in building Startup Institute since it’s inception in 2012; assisting with the initial design of the curriculum and contributing a significant number of Fresh Tilled Soil staff for in-track instruction. In addition to being an advisor and lecturer at Startup Institute, Richard is a mentor at TechStars and BluePrint Health, and serves on the executive committees of TEDxBeaconStreet, TEDxBoston, the AdClub’s Edge Conference, and Boston Regional Entrepreneurship Week (BREW).
