Why did you attend Startup Institute?
I knew where I was (in a job that I hated) and where I wanted to be (marketing for a small tech startup) and Startup Institute was the perfect way to bridge the gap between the two.
Is there one experience that stands out for you from your time at SI?
My favorite moments are the little ones, like the good luck phone calls or happy hours that went far too late on a weeknight. The instructors and speakers are impressive, but so are the people you share those seats with every day. Don't let eight weeks pass without getting to know them. You'd be surprised how pivotal those relationships end up being to your success down the road.
What makes SI different than other educational experiences or classes you’ve taken?
Marketing is such a dynamic field that sometimes traditional educational institutions can't update the curriculum fast enough to keep up with how quickly it changes. Startup Institute is taught by people in the field doing the job every day, which allows you to learn what's relevant right now.
What is one thing you’d want people to know about SI?
SI will give you all the tools and knowledge you need to reinvent yourself and get the career of your dreams, but it still requires hard work. Be prepared to hustle.
What are you doing/building now?
Currently, I'm learning all about the complicated FinTech buying process and trying to ensure Rippleshot's next marketing steps (and dollars spent) are as effective as possible. In tangible terms, we're talking website improvements, marketing automation software, strategic ad buys, and email campaigns - for now.
