Why did you attend SI?
I was looking to make a career change when SI popped up during a Google search. Serendipity called and I answered. I also liked the idea of being surrounded by a group of fiercely ambitious and intelligent human beings. The fact that they also turned out to be extremely generous and kind is the cherry on top.
Is there one experience that stands out for you from your time at SI?
The expo, for the sheer terror you feel walking into it.
What makes SI different?
The length of the program, the diversity and amount of content/knowledge you're exposed to and the lightning speed at which things move at forces you to focus and think deeply about where you want to go and what kind of work you want to be doing.
What is one thing you'd want people to know about SI?
Don't lose your head in the whirlwind of activities! Take the opportunity to understand where you are, where you want to go and what steps you need to take to get there. The program team can't make you do anything but they care about your progress and will hold you accountable for making things happen if you let them, so let them.
