Madelena Mak

Founder and Designer

MiniMap

Madelena loves design and people. Classically trained as an architect at RISD, she learned that to design is to strive the balance between human desires and utilitarian limits. She found out about UI design by herself at the age of 9, when she attempted to build her own GameBoy in paper, since her parents would not allow videogames at home. Since then, she had spent the past decade in the forefront of the tech and startup scene, and created products that improve the lives of many people with her design and problem solving skills. Her designs for Trillian was the first web app ever made for the iPhone, helping it reach the top of the charts in the app stores. She had worked at ZocDoc, FindDoc and TechStars Barclays Accelerator, and had won numerous hackathons such as NYC Big Apps, TechCrunch Disrupt and AngelHack. She is also actively involved in the arts, civic tech and transgender communities in New York. Currently she is the founder and designer of MiniMap, an intelligent urban navigation tool perfectly tailored to the user, helping them re-capture the magic and wonder of urban living. She looks forward to creating and experiencing more of this wonderful world, while spending time sharing her skills and learning from others in the years to come.
