Connect. Create. Engage.
I love that marketing is used to connect with an audience, create and tell a story through a product or an idea, and engage and build a community using social media and content. It is for these exact reasons that I decided to come to SIB. I wanted to truly understand what it takes to use marketing as a skill to make an impact at a startup company.
I graduated from Northeastern University in May of 2013, with a BS in Music Industry and a minor in Business Administration. During my undergrad, I completed three full-time co-ops through Northeastern's program, all of which were marketing-related.
My fairly broad background includes: music marketing and licensing, product marketing, brand marketing and market analysis for the footwear industry, as well as a brief stint in the interior design industry, where I aided in creating a six-page spread on interior design trends.
I enjoy the creative side of marketing, and am fascinated by how digital media is used to target and reach specific consumers. I am excited to learn more about how digital data can be interpreted and used as knowledge for a business. My previous experiences, as well as my time at SIB have been invaluable components leading up to becoming a high-impact marketer at a startup- I can't wait to dive in!
What skills do you bring to a project team?
I can bring an interesting perspective on marketing, as well as organization, leadership and creativity to my team. I will never leave something unfinished, and am always motivated to do my best work. I thrive in a team-oriented environment, which is part of the reason I was drawn to the startup world in the first place!
I recently spoke with a VP at United Airlines who told me, "If you're smart and willing to work hard, you can figure out the rest." I couldn't agree more.
Why did you decide to do the Startup Institute?
I have completed several internships that have been marketing-related, creative, and analytical, with emphasis on brand and product marketing.
Through the SIB, I am hoping to expand on my digital skills and become a more “well-rounded” marketer. I aspire to work at a company that allows me to engage with consumers, and research the market that it targets more in-depth.
Who are you outside of work?
My interests include, music, photography, reading, writing, traveling and baking.
*If I weren't an aspiring marketer, I would open my own bakery (award-winning cupcakes and cookies right here!)
I am also very interested in fitness and training for races. It is a goal of mine to complete a half marathon this year. Last summer, I participated in the Pan Mass Challenge- a 90 mile bike ride from Wellesley to Cape Cod and raised over $3,000 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute!
