Announcing the New Home of the Startup Institute Boston!!

When it came time to find a new home for the Startup Institute Boston, we were faced with many different options. Do we stay in an educational setting, like a university? Do we move into a space that’s entirely our own? Do we join a co-working space where we can benefit from the collaborative environment? It turns out, finding a home for your business can be quite the endeavor.

We knew we wanted the Startup Institute to be somewhere that our students are excited to come to each day and that has surroundings that inspire them. We wanted a home where we could build not only a business, but a strong community. That is why we are happy to announce that we have found our home in partnership with Communispace at 290 Congress Street in Boston.

We are excited to be a part of the Communispace office for so many reasons. They were founded in 1999, by a handful of folks with diverse backgrounds (including a businesswoman, a social scientist and an anthropologist) who were intrigued by the potential of the Internet as a means for bringing people together. The company had humble beginnings and faced many challenges as a start up.

Today, Communispace is the leader in helping Fortune 500 companies transform how they listen to consumers via private online communities across the globe. We are excited to learn from them while we work on growing and developing our own community of students, alumni, instructors, hiring partners, and community supporters.

Becoming a member of the growing Innovation District in Boston is also an incredible opportunity for everyone involved with the Startup Institute. Working in an environment that fosters progress and supports the New England economy is powerful for a startup like ours. With many of our friends based out of the Innovation District, we’re looking forward to lunches at the food trucks and drinks on Fan Pier with you all!

We’re eager to kick off the Fall program at our new home. We want to thank Diane, Gary, and their team for extending such a warm welcome to us and supporting our mission. We hope that you’ll stay in touch with our current class via our newsletter to see what they are learning and who they are meeting each week. As always, you can keep in touch and up-to-date about the program through our website or by following us on Twitter.
